Meet the Walls

generic (blog)

Meet Waldean and Sheila Wall. They have faithfully attended Sovereign Grace Church for 8 years and can be seen serving in a variety of capacities.

the walls.JPGWhat brought you to Sovereign Grace Church?

We had attended Bethlehem Baptist for many years. Then, after seminary and a temporary (4 ½ years) preaching stint in Winona, MN, we were looking for a smaller, local church. So, we were looking for reformed-thinking church closer to Eagan. At SGC we found biblical preaching, great music, and lots of Jesus-following people and families.

What are evidences of grace you see at work in SGC?

Great gospel-first preaching, mature disciples, outward-oriented, and an expectation that all Christian will grow into a faith-walk where Jesus owns every aspect of life.

Tell us a little bit about your family?

We have four children – one son, three daughters – and they’re all married. Our son lives in Denver and our three girls live here. We have eight grandchildren now, and our oldest daughter and her husband (currently five children) are pursuing the adoption of three more.

What do you each do for a living?

Sheila is the director of an independent, senior living building for Presbyterian Homes in Bloomington and Waldean is a nation speaker for the financial planning industry.

Where do you serve at SGC? What drew you to these ministries?

  • We regularly attend the Resource Center. We were drawn to this because it’s easy and it gives us an opportunity to meet people.
  • We lead Proclaim, which is a group for folks age 50+. We were drawn to this because we feel the need to encourage “older” Christians in their pursuit of Jesus. Older should mean deeper faith and greater risk for the gospel.
  • Waldean leads the “Money and the Gospel” class. I was drawn to this because, for many – including me – thinking about money in a Christ-exalting way is a struggle. It’s easy to worship the gift rather than the Giver.
