Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
By now you've likely seen or read about the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey in southeast Texas. Record rainfall is causing major flooding leaving people homeless or displaced. I’m aware of at least two families, who are members of Sovereign Grace Church in Pearland, TX (south Houston), who have lost their homes. The needs are real, and because we are a “family” of churches, they affect us all in Sovereign Grace.
To help with the growing needs caused by Hurricane Harvey, Sovereign Grace Churches is establishing a “Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.” The money given to this fund will be used to help meet the needs of members of Sovereign Grace churches in southeast Texas, as well as other churches and people who live in the areas affected by Harvey. How the funds are dispersed and used will be determined by the Sovereign Grace South-Central Region. This approach will expedite the release of funds, and it allows our pastors, who are closest to the devastation of Harvey, to make the decisions.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, you can do so on our giving page.
Please join me in praying for all those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Pray that God would provide food, shelter and essential needs for those who are homeless or displaced. Pray that God would provide short-term, and long-term housing for those who lost their homes. Pray for the first responders, FEMA workers, and volunteers asking God to give them strength as they serve. And pray that God would provide gospel opportunities as the Sovereign Grace churches in southeast Texas serve their communities.
Mark Prater is the Executive Director for Sovereign Grace Churches and serves as an elder at Covenant Fellowship Church. He and his wife, Jill, have three married daughters and a growing number of grandchildren.
